Vermont Studio Center – Residency #1

Malcolm Moran was awarded a residency at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson Vt. He explored through the mediums of drawing and painting the theme of “myth” and “dreams”. It was during this stint in Vermont that Malcolm created his series of apocalyptic scenes around the destruction of his past and the city of New Orleans. Though the images reflected an internal apocalypse, the actual destruction did in fact take place ten years later in 2005 with Hurricane Katrina.  The body of work created during the residency included a series of large charcoal drawings that have developed a long running series continuing to the present.
